What’s New for the 2025 BMW X1
The X1 was fully redesigned for the 2023 model year. In 2024, the sporty M35i xDrive joined the lineup, and for the 2025 model year, the changes are minimal but include a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and standard heated seats.
Design
The X1 wears its functionality on its sleeve thanks to its upright design, with well-articulated creases and lines. The front end is defined by BMW’s signature twin-kidney grille. Trims for the X1 are xDrive28i and M35i. The former comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, and the latter features 20-inch M-Design wheels. The M35i also features more aggressive bodywork, hinting at the heightened performance within.
Powertrain
The 2025 xDrive28i comes equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 241 horsepower. The sporty M35i features a 313 horsepower turbo-four. Both engines route power through a seven-speed automatic transmission to xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD). In addition to its more powerful engine, the M35i also features upgraded brakes and an adaptive M suspension.
Fuel economy estimates for the xDrive28i are 24 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined. The M35i returns 23 mpg city, 31 highway, and 26 combined. The X1 requires premium fuel.

Interior
The X1 has a spacious interior with seating for up to five passengers, as well as 25.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the rear seats folded, the X1 provides up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard power liftgate.
Standard features on the X1 include synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and heated front seats. Available features include a panoramic sunroof, sport seats, and ambient cabin lighting.
Technology
No matter what model you select, the X1 comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It also comes equipped with a fully digital instrument panel and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Upgraded features include wireless device charging and a Harmon Kardon premium sound system.
Safety
The X1 comes with a generous list of standard driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Upgraded safety tech includes stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera system, and a head-up display.
