Large liftback sedans have only really become a thing in the last ten years, and German luxury automakers jumped at the chance to make another vehicle type. Audi offers both the A5 and A7, with the larger A7 sharing much of its underlying engineering with the A6. It boasts a lively powertrain and an interior that lives up to its premium pricing.

What’s New for the 2025 Audi A7
The A7 gained more standard features for 2025, including Homelink buttons on the rearview mirror. Higher trims get dual-pane acoustic glass, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats, while the top Prestige model gained front-seat massage and Valcona/Milano leather upholstery.
Design
While it looks similar to the A6 upon which it is based, the A7’s liftback body style gives it a unique stance. The front end features a large grille and slim headlights, while the backside slopes off dramatically to a low rear trunk lid.
Powertrain
The 2025 A7 comes standard with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 making 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Audi quotes a zero-60-mph time of just 5.2 seconds for the car, but the automaker also offers the S7 and RS7 for buyers wanting more grunt. Though it’s a strong performer, the A7 offers a smooth, refined ride quality, and the interior remains surprisingly quiet, even with the throttle wide open and the engine wailing.

Interior
Audi advertises the A7 as a five-seater, but it’s much more comfortable with two people in the back seat. Leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats come standard, along with heated front seats. A heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and ventilated and massaging front seats are available. The front buckets are wide, spacious, and wonderfully supportive, remaining comfortable on long trips and sporty drives. Unfortunately, though, the rear seat suffers from reduced headroom, thanks to the car’s sloped roof.
Technology
Audi equips a dual-screen infotainment system with a 10.1-inch upper display and 8.6-inch lower unit. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster comes standard, running Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system, which brings maps, entertainment, and other data to the cluster in front of the driver. Bluetooth, wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, ten speakers, navigation, and more are standard. Audi’s two-screen setup takes time to learn, but it’s responsive, and the displays offer crisp, bright graphics.
Safety
The 2025 Q8 e-tron earned five stars out of five in testing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it has not yet been fully crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Audi only equips a few driver aids as standard, with most being held back for higher trims. A rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and parking sensors come standard.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2025 Audi A7 starts at $72,000. The Premium Plus trim starts at $77,700, and the top Prestige model at $82,450. All variants see a $1,295 destination charge.
