i just replaced fuel filter and fuel pump. car died in yard, so i replaced these parts. i also noticed the secuity light flashing could this be the problem

Yes, it sounds like the security system shut down the car. Are you trying to use a new or different key? If so it must be programmed into the security system for the car to recognize it. HTH. -Jim

If it is same key, wait for light to stop flashing (could be several minutes). Turn off ignition, and start. My '01 alero does this every now and then
