My truck is backfiring from the exhaust and flames were coming out from the mufflers tailpipe. Recently rebuilt carburetor and need to adjust the electric choke adjusting screw and throttle screw,
What are the correct settings for the
screws on the 4 barrel quadrajet carb and
the screws for the throttle and the screw
on the linkage for the electric choke. It
seems like it might be putting too much
gas in the carb.
I think your problem may be with the ignition timing.
When is it backfiring? After you shut off the engine? On acceleration? On deceleration? Under load? At idle? -Jim
Exhaust system leaks can suck in air and cause back fires.
If it truly is getting that much extra fuel adjusting the mixture screws won't do that. It really sounds like spark isn't coming at the right time
