Engine replace

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Being told engine is shot due to a blown rod.  Suggesting replacing engine with one from a junk yard at a cost of around $5,000     My question is should I do this or basically is it worth it.    Car is a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek.   Car is in pretty decent shape otherwise.

the question is , is it worth it to you to spend that kind of money. If it is I would search for one with relatively low miles with a warranty. You can do a lot better on that price, look into getting a reman engine, buying a used scrap yard engine is risky. Shop around.
