My interior light does not come on when the door is opened. How do I fix this?

When the doors are open, the vehicle remains dark inside which is unsafe.  Which button
or other should I activate to remedy this?

Did you open the owners manual? Look under lighting page 142. You need to have the switch moved to "ON". for both front and back dome lights.
