Asked by Evan Feb 18, 2018 at 10:58 PM about the 2014 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium AWD

Question type: General

I was driving my recently purchased Subaru Legacy
at about 55 mph on the way home after taking a
road trip. Suddenly, the check engine light came on,
the brake indicator started flashing, and the cruise
control indicator flashed all at the same time. At
first, I was completely baffled. I pulled over and
looked online and pretty much everyone with this
problem said it was a sensor malfunction and to
tighten the gas cap. I did so but these lights are still
on. I was wondering how long it takes for them to
turn off after tightening the gas cap. A few times
some people said to get the computer codes
checked. Just curious on what exactly to do. This is
pretty weird. Thanks!

Have the trouble codes read to know what is going on. A loose gas cap is only one of more than a hundred possible codes.

Thanks for the info. All the indicators are off now so it must have been the gas cap :)
