my 1989 f150 pu  wont run but about a min and then dies . wont start unless you let it set for about a hour. when this started it was running ok then started sputtering and loosing power when you gave it gas ,also quit a few times on me . now it will only run for a min or two then dies . please someone help me out.  has two fuel  tanks . and a fuel pump under drivers side cab.

My 87 did that it was ignition module on the distributor I changed the coil and the fuel pump and fuel filter before finding that out. Try troubleshooting the ignition module with a voltmeter or take to a part store most of them will test it for free.. Id try what I did but test the ignition module first. Could be your problem.

Just in case u don't know the ignition module is on the side of the distributor if it looks like this if not it will be under the hood on the side above the wheel well. It also could could be the pip sensor inside of the distributor that's why I just bought another distributor it had some aged on it.. Also u can try unplugging the water temp sencer on the front of the manifold just to see if it . When its running try unplugging and plugback in map senser just to see how it likes that ( troubleshoot) it should be underhood passenger side on the side above wheel well always good to check ass well.
