Eliminate one gas tank and plumb the fuel line to bypass the tank switch.

I need a switch also in my 1988 f150 4.9, but this was my fix, I had an issue where both pumps were energized when rear tank was used, proved by disconnecting the front tank feed and return lines and removing the dual reservoir 6 port deal, straight connecting the rear tank, when the key was turned on, not started, on to prime the rear tank the front tank also began pumping fuel into a gas can (both pumps got power from the switch when rear selected) also proved by probing, filling 4 gal within few minutes- no I wasn't confused to which lines were which, bottom lines on the 6 port reservoir are rear tank, proved by tracing them back. The switch wiring diagram is easily found, the solid red (not red with yellow stripe) wire in the switch powers the front tank, I cut that to disable front tank, my 160k truck gets 500 miles a year and one day may fix properly. Dorman via all the auto parts stores sells a Ford hard fuel line kit with 3/8 and 5/16 pipe that will bypass the 6 port expensive bit. Then your choice to cut the front tank lines and tee off or just bundle them up in a way that keeps them clean. I wd prfer if the dorman kit lines werent 12inches, only need about 6 inches, but I found a position were they wdnt kink.
