Carfax says that vehicle was a manufacturer buyback. Is it safe?
Infiniti Q50 2014 with 18k miles is for sale. The carfax
report states that it was bought back from Nissan in
California because of, "iKey inoperable". I wanted to know
if it was safe to buy and if it would have more problems in
the future since it was an electronic issue. Please help!
If Nissan bought the car back the problem must have been severe. If you are buying this from a Nissan dealer what do they say about it? What type of warranty are they offering?
I certainly would not pay the Blue Book dealer price and would want a major discount for a car with a history like this one.
I agree 100% with F_O_R- even going as far to say there really isn't an infiniti worth the headaches listed in the CarFax
I wonder how many times the owner of this lemon was stranded?
It's actually a used a car dealer that specializes in selling manufacturer buybacks. They're offering the manufacturer warranty that is left on the car. I don't remember exactly how much but I believe 40k miles bumper to bumper and 50k miles on mechanical I believe. I'll get the exact amount and post it.
If you decide to buy this car I would make sure and get an extended warranty that covers issues like the iKey. Don't take the salesman's word for it, make him show you in the policy where it covers these sorts of problems.
Absolutely, I'll definitely make my decision off of what they offer.
Ask them if they will take the car back if you have any iKey problems in the first few weeks. If they say yes get it in writing.
Yessir! Thank you much!
I wouldn't buy it. Check out The Lemon Law specifics for the State of California. The Lemon Law differs from State to State. In New Jersey, for example, the dealer has 3 tries to successfully fix a problem with a brand new car. If it can't be fixed, the owner can invoke their rights under The Lemon Law. If California is more liberal in favor of the Dealer I definitely wouldn't buy it! That'd mean they had multiple tries to fix it but were unsuccessful!! HTH. -Jim
This is the warranty left :
That's good but do you really want to be late for work because your car won't start? Or stranded at the store because your car won't start? Stuck in traffic because your car dropped dead? These are all things to consider. You also need to realize that YOU are not covered by The Lemon Law. So once you buy this vehicle, you're stuck with it!! If you do buy it (I sincerely hope you do not) invest in AAA or another auto club. Not trying to be a "wise guy" but you'll probably need them!! HTH. -Jim
