2012 F-150 Parasitic Drain on Fuse position 52

Asked by DIYerF1502012 Sep 06, 2020 at 12:24 AM about the 2012 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fuse description in manual: "Run/start – Electronic power assist steering, Blower relay coil". I know the drain is on this fuse, because the drain stops if I pull this fuse. I tried replacing the Blower Motor Resistor BL3Z19E624A and that did not solve the issue. I also tried pulling the Blower Relay in position #3. The drain continued with this relay out. So, I'm thinking the drain is coming from the power steering. Any suggestions how I can further isolate the issue to the faulty component? I'm a diy-er. I've done work on my cars before, but I'm not a trained mechanic.

For further troubleshooting, I found and pulled the connectors to the Power Steering Gear, and the battery did not drain overnight, so this looks to be the area of the issue.

Did you find the problem with electronic power steering battery drain. My 2012 f150 doing the same thing.

I have the same thing on my 2013 f150 eco. It draws close to 3 amps and when I pull Fuse 52, it drops to 20 milli amps. Did anyone figure out how to resolve this?
