Your remote start and locking feature is tied into the security system installed. Extremely difficult to trace without proper electronic testing equipment and associated computer program. Suggest dealership check it out.

I took my truck to the dealer and the service manager told me it could be a long drawn out expensive process tracking down my problem and could cost me 4 to $500.00. I just wondered if that little switch inside the center console that Eric sells on ebay could be the solution that other guys are having with their dash lights staying on. In any event Mark thank you for your suggestion. I was just trying to avoid the high cost of a service tech trying to trouble shoot the whys of what went wrong.

Just keep in mind the problems you are experiencing are controlled by an on-board computer which controls the security features. There are no "oopsies" associated with electronics. If the computer doesn't like what you are doing, it may render you vehicle completely inoperable.

I'm certain the computer is the fault as now the headlights won't stay on at shutdown and won't stay shining for the minuet or so that courtesy feature is supposed to operate. That being said the headlights coming on after its parked hasn't recurred when I first posted this enquiry. so guess it's going to involve a trip to the Ford shop and put a big dent in my wallet. Might be better to trade it off. Thank you again for all your help!
