How to tell which nechanic is at fault

Asked by Mvs311 Oct 10, 2020 at 11:58 PM about the 2007 Ford F-150 XL Long Bed

Question type: General

I had a shop rebuild my transmission and at times
it still shifts hard and its still under warranty and i
know when bolting trans into flywheel it has to
align perfectly or will not operate properly and ither
mechanic changed rotors calipers oil and oil filter
he says its the other guy who did something wrong
but he only drained 3 quarts out of motor when he
changed oil and added 6.5 quarts of 5w20 and
when truck messed up the tire locked up and then
a loud knocking started as the tire started working
and the motor mount was found broken and oil is
all over the bottom of transmission pan engine
drive shaft etc and rear end is leaking now but this
truck ran better than any truck i kno of not one light
or code was on and it has been taken care of and
the 190k miles are easy hwy and interstate miles
and never ticked or knocked , it was a great motor
then it just started knocking so loud. I just dont see
it it happening for no reason other than the wear
and tear something made it start in my opinion but
what?

You can fight with the mechanics over the transmission if you like. If they only drained out 3 quarts when changing the oil that means you let it get so low there was engine damage.

Yeah it was probably ran low if only 3 qts came out when all that is throughout the system nothing is left in the pan really should have kept a check on the oil level the rear diff leak is probably just due to adge um the transmission is probably the shop problem but the engine you won't get any shop to buy a engine they documented the oil level and if it goes to court your just going to waste your time

Also if the flywheel hadn't lined up the transmission wouldn't bolt up or if the converter isn't all the way in it damage the pump in the transmission wouldn't really hurt the engine at all

It uses studs that go through the flywheel with nuts very hard to put it together not lined up impossible
