Malibu Traction, Service ESC, Reduced Engine Power

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For everyone on this forum, I am a Mobile Mechanic out of
Lindale, Texas. I own one of these cars and have repaired
many others. I have found that 90% of the time the engine
bay fuse box is the culprit. They have printed circuit boards
that fail and have connections that get to where they have
faint connection. Give that a try it may very well fix your
problems.

Do you know what can cause the lose of all power functions (headlights, stero, heat) the car still runs but the headlights only work if I hold the key to the right, its a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Probably electrical part of ignition switch, unless the mechanical key tumbler part is worn and not turning the switch properly, but more than likely switch itself

I have a 2010 Malibu LT, mine is now completely dead, car won't turn on at all, headlights and all that turn on when I turn the key but won't start.

Actually it wasn't anything to do with the ignition, first I needed new spark plug wires and then come to find out everything not working was due to a broken ground wire

Plug wires wont stop all of that from working, just make engine run bad, and yes I can definatly see a bad ground doing that as you described, kinda hard to correctly diagnose without car here, lol, but I'm glad you fixed your problem, the ignition issue I have mostly ran into on ford escapes and older dodge ram pickups

The 2010 malibu could be a few things, if you have a security light that stays on, like a car with padlock symbol, its shut down on security and needs relearned. Could also be a bad starter, or wiring going to starter. Find your relay for starter, turn ignition on, and using a jumper wire jump terminals 30 and 87 where the relay socket is. If starter turns over but car wont start, security issue, if it does nothing bad starter or wiring, if it fires up and runs then look for faulty relay or wiring from switch or nuetral safety switch on trans

GuruXGR1J Thank you for sharing your wisdom!!! Can you please describe this fuse block or circuit board in the engine compartment and how to access it. Maybe a picture could help me understand what you are referring to. Just had these infamous problems start on my 2011 Malibu Ltz 2.4
