Oil pressure

Asked by GuruY8MVD Mar 22, 2018 at 12:30 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my 2008 Chevy 1500 I’m having issues with oil
pressure. Took it in and I think they replaced the
sensor. Was great that was 6 months ago now oil
pressure light is on again. Oil is not low. Could it
need to have the oil pan cleaned out ? Could it have
sludge in the oil pan which makes it come on? Or is
it something else? Could it be the seal that the oil
goes through? How do I know if it’s any of these or
something completely different? Thanks for your
answer. Trish

There is a screen under the oil pressure sensor that gets dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Getting to the screen requires removal of the oil pressure sensor. Do some googling for oil pressure sender screen or go to the link and do some reading. http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/threads/2008-chevy-silverado-low-oil-pressure.144925/
