Power steering fluid leaks

Asked by Jan 07, 2016 at 10:13 PM about the 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought my 01 accord coupe v6 brand new in 2000. In sept 2013 (13 yrs later,
ok understandable due to wear and tear), I was advised that my power
steering pump and rack leaks and need to be resealed/replaced. As such, I
went ahead with the dealer's recommend which cost me $1347.64. It's has
been only 3 yrs and now my fluid is slowly leaking from somewhere. What
can/should I do?

Well your out of warranty unless the Dealer stepped up the normal coverage, if that is what is actually leaking. Take it to a shop you trust, it doesn't have to be a Dealer, there are a lot of good independent shops out there and some even specialize in Hondas, have them look it over, find what is leaking, it could just be a hose, and go from there. HTH

Thank you for ur input. I'm under the impression that I wouldn't/shouldn't have this problem so soon cuz it's been only 3 yrs since the repair.

One would think so, but from what I am starting to see in the parts end of it things are looking a little shoddy on workmanship and prices are getting out of hand again. Like the other day I needed a Thermostat and wound up paying 21 bucks for one a lousy Thermostat, they should be around 15 bucks tops and it only had a 90 day warranty, just pitiful. Sorry end of my rant.
