Lesabre wPD window goes down not up on both sides

Asked by Scott Aug 10, 2023 at 09:39 PM about the 2001 Buick LeSabre Limited Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to determine where the be
problem is at.

Passenger window, goes down but not
back up. Does not work on the DD or
PD, down works on both.

Brand new window regulator, bought
another one to make sure that was not
it. I can hot wire it right at the motor
with 12v, goes right up np.

*is it the door module on PD?
*is it the switch on PD, DD or both?

Can't be a fuse because then it wouldn't
work either direction.

It had been working fine when we
bought it last year for my Father in law.
He is not good on cars but i had
replaced the regulator in Nov 2022 and
it was fine. We are selling it now and
the buyer found that the window will
not go up,  that's why i bought another
regulator thinking i big a cheap Chinese
one. Turns out that one works fine to.

Read several posts on this site, none
exactly covered my situtation.

Check the wires that run through the rubber boot in door jamb , After 20 years of opening and closing they can break . A multi tester is useful for electrical problems without one your making guesses .. If it turns out to be the module make sure you find what ruined it before you plug in a new or used one because they are not cheap

That is normally a symptom of a bad window switch, window switches reverse polarity for up and down so the motor just reverses direction for that selection. Now I have seen some GM products have problems with the lock button for the windows in the master switch assembly, sometimes cycling it a few times will make it work but usually it will need replacement. This old having switch problems is not uncommon.

I unplugged a couple of connections to the module and when i push down on the PD switch i can hear a click in the module, which is why i was thinking it might be that. Found them for 40, used of course.
