I think my starter went out. I put a new one in but still doesn't start. What else could be the problem with the starter?

is there anything happening when you turn the key? a click or anything? if its a manual theres a clutch switch under the dash that could be bad. may be starter relay. may be the wiring is wrong or damaged. neitral safety switch if its an automatic. poor connection at battery? completely dead battery and needs replacing? do some more digging. sorry

Switch on the headlights and try to start it. Do the headlights stay nice and bright? If so, it's the starter, neutral safety switch, or possibly a security system issue. If the headlights dim, flicker badly, or go out, it's going to be the battery (weak/dead) or the battery cable connections. HTH. -Jim
