I have an 05 5.7L. Stopped at the store last night, came out it wouldn't start. Solenoid clicked once, then the interior lights went crazy. Jumped it, it ran the 20 miles home no problems. Got home shut it off same issue. The battery tested 12.5 volts I have not load tested yet. Running the alt is putting out 14.2 volts checked fuses starter connections and battery terminals cannot find an issue. Any thoughts or ideas?
If your battery terminals and cable ends are shiny clean and none of the black corrosion then start doing a voltage drop test on your cables to the starter, the corrosion may have gone inside the cables.
Turned out it was the battery. I have never had a battery go bad that way, with out sitting at least over night.
