I have a 2004 5.7 hemi. We went thru
high water and drowned out due to
water in the air box and into the
cylinders. Now it will only crank over
half way then motor locks. You can
turn it by hand backwards but locks up
Did you take out he spark plug to relieve the possibility of water being on top of the pistons before trying to crank so you do not bend a rod or worse?
As you have already cranked it over, you may have damaged it internally, remove the spark plugs, disable the ignition coils, and turn it over a coule of revolutions by hand first, if it turns normally, then spin it with the starter, until the cylinders quit blowing water, then you will need to drain the oil and filter and make sure all of the water is out of there and refill and install another oil filter, again spin the engine for about 10 to 15 seconds, if the spark plugs are still good reinstall them with a little bit of never seize on the threads, if the plugs are worn or show damage replace them. Then run a memory test on the engine management system, it is possible that the water may have damaged some componets like the air flow sensor. Good luck.
