Do you have a check engine light on? There could be an out of spec sensor telling the power train control computer that there is a cold temp in the engine or trans or the switch is not properly aligned for gear selection, a live data tester could aid you in tracking this down.

you could also be low on fluid. trans fluid expands when it is heated, which would explain why it does better after driving. 30 miles is a lot. check the fluid with the truck parked on level ground with the engine running in neutral and the parking brake set. the engine needs to be warm, not hot, and cycle the gearshift up and down a couple of times before you check it.

cked fluid not low alittle over.

no light on.the guy I bought the trans from told me to change the trans cooler line that hooks to the radiator.Took it off and clean it because O'Reileys cant find one. No help
