External Voltage Regulator For a Dodge Ram 1500 Year 2000, Having issues with burning a wire.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok, so I have purchased the external voltage regulator for my truck. Unfortunately when I hook everything up and get ready to turn on the truck and progress with turning it over. I have 1 cable that has burned up on my twice. This one is the Positive cable from the battery to the switch to the Voltage regulator. All my grounds are connected properly along with hooked up to the alternator correctly. Voltage from the batter to the switch show normal on my meter but when the switch is turned on and truck about to be turned over it fries the switch and the wire. I am not exactly sure how else to explain this or even begin to show the diagram.

I do apologize never mind. I have figured out the problem. It was with wiring up the switch incorrectly. Do not put a ground on a 2 prong switch. always make it 1 positive going in then 1 positive going out to the regulator.
