I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 with 5.9L with under 70,000 original miles.
Have engine noise when engine warms up a little and oil pressure goes down to 0 when idling. Oil pump was replaced, but no change. Could it possibly be spun bearings?
If the oil pressure drops that low most likely you have excessive bearing clearances, the camshaft is the first too feed off the oil pump pressure too much clearance there will loose oil pressure very fast. Have you heard a slight rumbling sound about dead center of the engine?
That seems to be where the noise is coming from, deep down inside.
Yep I'll bet that is your problem. as it is a 97 that already is having oiling problems I would recommend an engine overhaul.
That's what I was afraid of. Okay, I guess it has to be done. Thanks so much for the info. Take care.
You bet, come on back if you have any m ore questions.
