Transmission problem 96 dodge ram 1500 5.9 automatic 4x4

Need suggestions on what's causing my Ram 1500 not
move after driving it 50 yards. Its like having it in neutral.
Not leaking fluid. Then when it doesn't move (drive), I have
to shut my truck off for 3 mins, then start it back up & it
will drive for another 50 yards. So on so on.

Jay, how can I find out that the torque converter is running dry and what causes it to run dry? It has fluid in the transmission and fluid level is in the operating range.
