I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.2 I need to know if the tranny from a 1994 dodge with a 5.2 will work in my 96 dodge
Why wouldn't it?...as close to an exact replacement as one might expect.
not the transfer case....of course.
just for funzies could look at the model numbers to see how different they are, also the 'vacuum modulator' has got to be identical...also speedometer may have gone to electric, but this business did not occur until 2000 for the most part-
You got to match the numbers on the top of the transmission bell housing.....one of the differences is that the 94 dodge ram has the #s 064-6.....on a 96+ dodge rams it's usually 064-3......one of the main differences is the main wiring harness to the transmission the 064-3 has a 8 wire connector and the 064-6 would have less like a 5or 6 wire....and you'd have to change out the whole wiring harness to do it right.....before you, go through the hassle and try to swap transmissions in these dodges and come to this problem .....
