1994 Dodge ram 1500 start at 2000 rpm cuts off?

1994 Dodge ram 1500 it starts at 2000
rpms it shut off, it has a broken
catalytic converter and no muffler??

I would get a muffler on it just to quiet it down , catalytic shouldn't affect anything I don't think even if there's an Ox sensor, see if fuel pump has a good ground/power , check for spark , fuel + spark + compression = vroom .

so if I'm reading this correctly the engine starts and runs but as soon as it hits 2000 rpm it shuts ....off other than that it will run and idle ??
