Electrical (?) Issues with 2002 Chevy Trailblazer

Asked by Olivia Mar 01, 2019 at 08:43 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I am driving my car, my radio will suddenly turn off and random lights
that aren't usually on will turn on on the dash. The bar under what gear I'm in
disappears, my power windows and locks don't work. I have had the neutal
safety switch replaced, the wires/pigtail to it replaced, and the starter
replaced. I have been told the battery is good. Any idea? I'm at a loss. 2002

If you do, it would be great to know! Glad to hear I'm not the only though, although it's a really annoying problem

Oliva, most common thing for this problem on our platform is a bad ignition switch, or bad battery.

My 06 just started this crazy lights while driving, acting like my battery is dead when I want to start it, but battery is good. Same owner for the last 12 years, they took great care of the car. Has about 215,000 miles on it, I’m second owner.

Yup, I think also ignition switch. Tons of things going through that switch and they are notorious for going out in these care. As they are going out they have a tendency to cause alot of electrical and engine gremlins until they ultimately fail and you can no longer start the car. Cheap part and with significant miles on any trailblazer/envoy/rainier it is one of the first things any new owner automatically replace if they buy a used one. GLTA.
