Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It was a sudden thing that happened. There was no early signs that anything was going out. almost like a light switch effect. The truck has 133,195 miles and has run great up until this point.  I reset the codes and they stay off until I put the brake on and shift into drive while taking the rpms to about 2,000. Then it will shutter and the code lights come on. The"O/D off" light flashes in the cluster also while this is preformed. No leaks, fluid is perfect, and no whine or grind of any kind. Its got to be electronic I'm thinking. Any suggestions?

I know nothing about trannys, but I put your question to my tranny guy who owns a shop. The 0720 cold would indicate a possible problem with the output speed sensor. A sympton for the tranny is the TCM is not receiving the proper voltage. It could be the sensor itself or a wire. Suggest it be checked out by a tranny shop who has the proper scanning equipment

I have a 2004 with the 4r70 xmission and I believe that is whats in yours as well. The xmission is horrible and has a design flaw internal. The forward drum lock ring is poorly made and the pressure eventually will cause it to fail and split the forward drum. I just rebuilt my xmission for this same reason. The replacement ring is a complete 360 degree ring that overlaps to ensure a better engagement of the groove and hold the drum better, while the OE ring has a slight gap at the ends. Sorry for the bad news but hope this helps.
