Will the truck crank if the timing chain loosen

It will crank (which is the starter motor) but whether it will catch and run is debatable, depends on how bad the timing chain is. It may run, even roughly, but if timing chain is really bad it won't run at all, just crank and crank. A crank or cam sensor can also prevent ignition, so no spark.
