2004 Ford F-150 question regarding cruise control

Asked by bt2461 Jan 11, 2017 at 01:58 PM about the 2004 Ford F-150 FX4 Ext. Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The cruise control on my 2004 Ford F-150 (new style, 4wd, extended cab,
5.4 engine) isn't working. I have checked all the normal things such as fuses,
etc., and even replaced the clock spring, but still no cruise. There a
diagnostic for the cruise that involved blink sequences from the dash cruise,
but the cruise on light never lights on my dash. I have read that some F-150
do not have a cruise on light. I can see the cruise on emblem in the
background of my dash to the right of the right turn light, so the question is,
does this truck have an active cruise dash light??

Thanks,

My 2002 F150 has a cruise light on the dash near the speedometer, Read your owners manual, it will show you where the cruise light is.

Update: I have now replaced the clock spring, brake pedal cut off switch and the steering wheel mounted on/off and set buttons and harnesses. I have also tested the cruise light on the instrument panel to make sure is wasn't burnt out. All light on the truck work and none are led. I get no cruise light (so no cruise system test is possible) on the dash when pushing the cruise on button. All fuses check out ok. I have read this may be an issue with the cruise controller (the ICU) which only a dealer has can turn back on. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks

My cruise control quit some time back on my Ford F150. 2004. For a while it would work occasionally... and yes, there was always a light when it was working.
