What would cause a loss of power and a spongy gas pedal?

Asked by TIFFANY Jan 12, 2022 at 08:02 AM about the 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat Crew Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day it started jumping and rpms would rev up then started working
ok, this morning after sitting at a red light I went to make a left hand turn and
the gas pedal was spongy like not engaging and I coasted through the
intersection then power just came on and we took off like nothing was wrong.

Sounds like a throttle sensor going bad. Have the codes checked, if no codes then run a live data scan and look at the throttle readings for erratic read out.
