2000 f150 coil pack question

Asked by Petlover0827 Aug 05, 2016 at 03:04 PM about the 2000 Ford F-150 Lariat 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 f150 5.4 triton truck has a miss and we
looked hooked it up to the computer and it said
that the #4 cylinder had a misfire. We took the coil
pack out but the bolt will not come out no matter
what i try. My question is this...will it hurt to leave
the bolt in and just put the new coil pack over it?

I would extract it but that's me. let someone who knows how and has the gear to remove the bolt do it. I use induction heat for the bolt or even old school 0 tip with 02 and Mapp does it.

I would drill it out and replace it but if coil pack is held in place, it should be ok, doesn't need it for ground, coil pack has negative and positive wires going to it but it's not a good practice to leave it like that

Did you verify the primary and secondary of the coil were within Ford specs. If they are the coil is probably good. Next check the resistance of the plug wire going to the dead cylinder.
