Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 1996 F 150 with a XLT - L6 - 4.9L 4917cc 300ci GAS engine and we
have been having overheating problems with it.  We have changed the
thermostat, water pump, radiator hoses, and now the fan clutch and it acts like
the water is not getting pumped through the heater core.  Help this is my

Have you reverse cleaned the heater core? With the age of this truck, I would say it is probably clogged. It is a fairly easy job. YouTube it.

Try bleeding air from system like this remove cap from overflow tank fill with antifreeze to full mark leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle you will notice level in tank start to rise this is normal once thermostat starts to open level in tank will drop add more antifreeze to full mark then put cap back on.

Twenty year old vehicle. If the previous owners ever just kept adding faucet water to the radiator, the heater core, radiator, or both could be clogged. And if anyone got the bright idea to pour in a can of stop leak, in the hopes of fixing a leak, then the radiator is probably really clogged up.
