Please explain better thx

OK the car started running hot so my boyfriend put water in it and bled the line.he took a water hose and put it in the bottom hose of the motor to flush it out while it was running and it built up pressure so he took it out. He fixed the running hot problem but now theres a ticking and it idles rough and there is wetness on the sparkplug

It sounds like you mights have blown a head gasket !! But check to see if all sensors on throttle is dry and working. But sounds to me like head gasket is blown

He put permanent seal in it and it still has a tick and the sparkplugs still getting wet with something

Ok check rokers might be that valves not closing but then you will have oil on the plugs. If you have water on the plugs its definitely a blown head gasket

It smells like oil. But there's not a lot of it.

575

That explains the ticking sound , when they overheat its you could damage the rockers, i will suggest changing them with the seats

Is there not any way he can fix it with out having to take the head off? The motor itself runs real good it just has that tick and it is idling really rough

575

Well.. Its not to say its the head so go buy a idling sensor and idling should be ok, unless the rough idling is caused by spark loss at idling then you need to replace the coil pack as it might got wet with flushing.

In the resoirvor how long do you think it will take to get to the crack?

575

Do u have a crack, ? Wel take it off and put soup water in the bottle close off the outlet and inlet and blow hard in the bottle will see foam exiting the cracked area

We don't know if there is one or not but was told we might have one. We put block seal in it and let it run for 20 minutes. He cut the catalytic converter out and straight piped it because it had a rotten egg smell when all this ticking started. The car runs better but the ticking hasn't stopped and it has a skip in its give it gas the ticking slows down but is lacking power

What car is this?

2003 Chevy Malibu

Jip ... Check coil pack for sure

Thank you for your help we really appreciate it

the heat could have broke down the oil.. sludge in the oil intake. that could lessen oil pressure & make the ticking. i hope the headgasket holds... look at the oil for any signs of water. pull out the dipstick and check AFTER running engine and cooling off.

OK spark plugs were changed, oil was changed, oil filter changed, block seal in the radiator. But the engine is still ticking. What can the problem be
