Power steering fluid question

Asked by Jun 19, 2016 at 12:38 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I recently went into an auto shop and got the
leak detector fluorescent dye in my power steering
fluid. The problem is I haven't been able to get
back up there for them to fix my leak. My question
is. Is it okay to add power steering fluid to it for
now until I get a chance to get the leak repaired? Is
it safe to add fluid with the dye still in there? My
fluid is a fluorescent green color like the dye right
now and is it ok to add my regular PS fluid to it?

Yes, it is designed to mix with the fluid but it will eventually loose the abality to glow so the leak might be harder to detect if it isn't checked before that happens.

Its safe and Ok, to add regular fluid.

Add some Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. May or my not stop leak but it worked for me.
