My dad has an 02 Chevy Trailblazer that keeps
giving code P0502. The code is for the VSS and
this has been changed but still getting the same

Have you ran a circuit check from the VSS to the Speedometer and then to the ECM? A bad speedo can also cause this code cause the pluses have to pass through there to get to the ECM.

How would I perform a circuit test?

Digital ohm meter on the VSS circuits, the pin numbers and locations will be in the shop manual if you have a good one.
