Where should the temperture gauge ride on normal operating temperture on my 2005 chevy malibu?

For safety to the engine no more then 180 degrees ..Temp between 120-150 is recommened ..

200 is ok on a hot humid day but no more than that.

120-150 means the vehicle is going to be stuck in open loop mode and burn a ton of gas. That's way too cold.

It's best to know the engine size . I had a 2001 Monte Carlo w/ 3800 series 2 normal operation temp is 213 . And 120- 150 is to cold. Most thermostat are between 175-190. That's the temp range for the thermostat to open and cycle the coolant through, the cooling system.

good information. I replaced a heater hose on my 2003 Chevy Malbiu. It stays at 180 with the new hose on.
