Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought 06 TB a month ago, oil pressure gauge drops from just over 40 to 0
while idling, Back to normal when given gas, I've changed the oil pressure
sensor, the problem remains.  The oil is at full per dipstick and appears
clean,  Will use the ACDelco filter, and want an additive that works well with
synthetic 5w30 oil to hope this resolves the problem, any ideas? Thanks for
your comments

Dont know what kind of addittive your thinking about adding to your oil, but i would get a oil pressure tester that tests your pressure at the motor and make sure your oil pump isnt going out,

If the engine is in decent shape you don't need any additives. Your engine is probably worn. Heavier oil can get some more use out of the engine. If it gets really bad you can add stuff like STP to try and get a few more miles out of it.

I would not waste money on synthetic when your engine is on its last legs.

Sounds like worn bearings. Especially if it's a higher mileage vehicle. As others have said heavier oil will buy you some time but personally, since you just bought it, I'd drive it until it starts knocking, which it will, then trade it in or junk it. Sorry! Jim

Thanks, everyone for your comments, I've read many online comments from different platforms regarding this problem, It seems this is a very common issue with all/ most GM vehicles. Many fixes have been found/ recommended, at this point changing the oil is the least expensive! Regarding additives: They could change the oil viscosity which could be problematic, good oil and OEM products (oil filter) seem to be best! Thanks, guys/ ladies
