Will crank but will only start by popping the clutch

Hi I have a 2005 Subaru legacy that had a bad
engine so I put a 2002 block in and it. started right
up! well now it won't start from cranking but if I roll
start it it starts right up!? It will stay running for
awhile then will start running ruff! Any ideas help!
