Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few months ago my heat/ac would only come on when I switched it to high speed.
Now it won't come on at all. What troubleshooting steps should I take? I checked the
plug going into the blower motor on different speeds with a voltmeter and it
consistently read 2. Any ideas would be healpful thanks

Check voltage and ground for blower motor. Use a test light. In the diagram, pull the blower relay, use proper jumper wire between terminal 30 and 87. Terminal 30 is hot all the time, fuse protected. If blower motor runs, have to check control side of relay, right side of relay in the picture. That side needs voltage and ground. If you have good voltage and ground with no blower action, suspect the blower motor. I have seen bad brushes in blower motor, the motor would run intermittently.

Check the fuses first, either the switch or the blower motor resistor was bad originally giving you only Hi speed. I would jumper battery pos to the motor terminal to see if it runs, if yes remove the switch and check it next look for burn spots on the resistor, the resistor won't cause the hi speed not to work but the switch will, there is also a blower relay under the hood but I've never seen one go bad, there's always a first time so you can swap relays of the same number to check. I hope this helps take care
