air ride compressor

Asked by W9BAG Jun 26, 2011 at 02:09 AM about the 2003 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The compressor for the air ride cycles every time I start the car and is very loud. Is this normal?

Yes it is. If the car has been sitting for more than just a few minutes, the compressor will deflate the rear bags. When you turn the car on to the Run position, the compressor will kick on to re-establish ride height. It is perfectly normal for this to happen.
