I just bought a 2015 dodge ram 5.7 with 8 speed transmission and it feels like it hesitates on take off and I can feel every gear as it shifts is that normal.

some automatics have a few choices of shift points , a sport , or tow range controlled by the shift solenoids kicking in fast or slow , if this one has no selector switch listed in the manual , I'd say an eight speed should be smoother than less gearing, the trans control pressure valve may be defective ,or the pcm is sending the wrong info to the solenoids raising pressure
