what's the difference between a Jeep M715 and a AM715

I believe the AM was made by American Motors, while a regular wartime Jeep could have been made by a variety of mfgs. who licensed the design.

The M715 was produced by Kaiser, which is one of the owners of the Jeep line in its history. The AM715 was produced by AM General, the same manufacturer of the HMMWV for the military.
