2005 Silverado 4WD, 5.3L Automatic, Z71. How
many u joints?

I think all GM four wheel drive trucks would have four U joints. As I recall there was a problem with "early failure" (@75K miles) for those trucks. Maybe there is a recall for that but I'm not sure, call the dealer.
