Question type: Maintenance & Repair

94 4.0 ranger 5 speed idles rough strong gas smell when
idling. Has a homade cold air intake maf sensor screwed
into cone filter which is just bare wire. When it's cold cranks
about 5 or 6 times before firing. When go to push gas down
to accelerate hard has a bad miss to it and when let off the
pedal in any gear jerks hard. Striaght piped and exhaust
unbolted at flange.

Remove the BS from the vehicle and install a proper exhaust system that can use the O2 sensor to make fuel adjustments and it will probably run just fine.

I bought it that way has no cats as well. Do I need to put those back or just muffler and stock intake
