2004 Ford taurus check engine light pain in my rear

My 2004 Ford taurus has been throwing in the
check charging light but when I turn the air on it
goes off and vice versa if the air is on it
sometimes theows it on but I turn air off and it
goes off what in the world is going on with my car
and how do I fix it. It appears that as long as I'm
not going over 45 mph I can run the air and it
doesn't come on but if I go 50 it throw that red
battery light Everytime what could this be plz can
someone help me I only want to fix it

Is it a check engine light or picture of a battery? Sounds like a weak alternator with having to go fast to get electricity and turning high drain components on wears it out and it throws a code or alarm.

Voltage regulator is bad probably in conjunction with bad bearings in your alternator causing it not to spin very free.

Start car and put voltmeter on battery and see what the output is? Car has to be running. All models vary but if it is generally at 12.8 or lower it is bad. 12V to run car and 1V to recharge battery is the basic system. My van alternator was bad when it put out 13.2V per the manufacturer. I also noticed a big HP difference when I installed the new one. All alternators have a range. Too high is bad also. Regulator keeps this range.
