Start a new GMC Sierra 1500 question.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Put 4.3 from 98 4wd jimmy in  02
2wd sierra that had 4.3. Starts and  
runs but tranny wont engage. What
do i need to do?

Probably need to compare the electrical connection between the two, you will need to transfer anything that was on the '02 engine to the '98 so the ECM sees all the inputs
