Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a question to ask. My car is VW 2007
Touran 1.4 TSI engine. I want to know what is MK7
is that the other name for it?

With this engine using 91 petrol would it damage
the engine piston even though the fuel flap state to
use 96RON? Also I want to know what is the
difference between software update and if not
update it what would happen?

Piston failure due to detonation would this caused
by using 91 petrol or the engine did not have the
software update

You had "piston failure"? First, if you were using premium, that should be sufficient- and would not explain the failure- second, I am not going to think about VW "software" problems- who knows what those guys at VW are doing?!
