I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8. Was sitting at an intersection and the oil pressure just went to zero and my "check gages" light when on. I checked the oil the day before and oil level was fine. Anyways, in the parking lot i happened to have a quart of oil in my jeep that i dumped in. Feeling risky i started it up and the guage stayed good for a bit and then dropped back down. Feeling even more risky and desperate to get home i decided to drive it 2 miles to get back home. As i drove the gauge almost routinely would dip to zero and the "check gages" light would come on. Then it would go back up to normal for a few seconds and go back down to zero for a few seconds. It continued to do this the entire two miles. You guys have any ideas? Its got about 169,000 miles on it, and i just put a brand new oil pan on it. 5 Answers

2015 Jeep Compass with 42,000 Miles. A month ago I was driving on the highway and a lightening bolt came on the dashboard. The Jeep had power to the radio and call but I was pushing the gas and nothing. The bolt flashed for 4 seconds went off and then it drove fine. Last week I was driving and the lightening bolt, check engine light, and traction control came on. The Jeep begin to putt, the radio and all was wokring but it lost gas. I was pressing the gas and nothing, pulled the Jeep over took the key out waited a few seconds and put the key back in and it worked. The check engine light remained on, parked at my house. Came back out about an hour later put the key in and turned it over and all the lights were off and the Jeep has since been running fine. Any help is greatly appreciated, I am pretty stumped. i have a 2005 bmw x5 3.0, in the morning i drove about 2 miles. after a little while I started the car but wasnt even a cranking sound, then i jump start it and drove about a mile to get home. i stop the car, in morning i try to start again, in the first turn nothing happened, tryed again and it started, but i drove like about 8 mils and it was dead. while i was driving the battery sign was blinking. Then i jump start again and drove for another 4 mils to a parts store. They checked the battery and said it is fine, but the machine says 9.8 - 10 low but good, then we try to start it but it was in starting, so he jump start it agin and i drove about 15 miles, then i shut off, and restart few time, without any problem, but after a little while the alarm go of by itself. According to the Mechanic, it's the alternator or the starter. Can you please help me with it, which one you think it is alternator, starter or battery?? 4 Answers
