How do I find the current owner of a car that was sold 15 years ago??

This car was my grandfathers 1959 ford thunderbird. I would like to find the current
owner and make an  offer to purchase it. Very important to me!!! I have the last registration
card when it was sold. I had the VIN # run and it came back to my pop's name which
seemed odd to me.
